Ronald R. Hirn, 87, of Montgomery, NY passed away January 5, 2026 at Putnam Hospital, Carmel, NY.

Ron was born in New York, NY to Frank and Sophie (Ziemba) in 1938. He graduated from High School in NYC in 1956. He was a Navy Veteran, serving aboard the USS Ticonderoga. After leaving the military, Ron worked as a meat cutter for over 40 years before his retirement in 2002.

During his retirement, Ron loved fishing with his wife and spending time with family and friends. He looked forward to spring when he could start his vegetable garden. He was an avid woodworker making bird houses, cutting boards and various pieces of furniture. He looked forward to hosting New Year’s Day pork roast dinner.

Ron is survived by his wife, Sandra of Montgomery, NY; step-daughters Donna VanDerMeulen of Wallkill, NY and Bonnie Kane-Lambrou (George) of Pine Bush, NY; grandchildren Sean Kane (Mary) of Sanford, NC, Kevin Kane of Greeley, PA and Juliana Kane of Beach Lake, PA; great-granddaughter Kiara Kane of Sanford, NC; four nephews and a niece. He was predeceased by his son Russell and his sisters, Delores Bullock and Marion Malora.

In keeping with family wishes, services will be held privately.
