Obituary of Kenneth W. Seckerson
“The Ringing finally stopped”
Written by Ken Seckerson
Born on 9/11/35, in NYC at The New York Foundling Hospital, I was raised by Mrs. Mary Bozek who had also taken in my older brother, Ronald. Mrs. Bozek had five children of her own-James, Valentine (Willy), Thomas (Tommy), Anna, and Florence-all of whom are predeceased. Mrs. Bozek brought us up as part of her own family, she passed away on December 21, 1965.
After a 35-year search, I finally found my younger brother and sister Michael and Joan. Both are now predeceased.
In 1954, I joined the Navy reserve, and in 1956, I enlisted in the SEABEES, where I served until 1959.
In 1960, I met Carol Baio, and on July 1st, 1962, I married the love of my life. Together, we had two children, Kevin and Kim. We were later blessed with five grandchildren: Amanda, Kara, Joseph (Joey), Nicholas (Nicky) and James.
I worked at New Rochelle Hospital as a Senior Lead Engineer for 30 years. While employed there, the hospital acquired their own ambulance company. I took the test and became an EMT as a second job. I also served as the Past President of NAPE (National Association of the Power of Engineers), Chapter No. 7, I held the position for five years-the longest running term-until 1990.
On November 15th, 2015, I lost my beloved wife, Carol, after 54 wonderful years together. Her pain finally ended, but my children and I were left with the pain of losing her. On May 3rd, 2021, the pain of losing my son Kevin was heartbreaking. Now, my pain has stopped.
I had a great life, and now I’m going to join Carol-with no regrets. We shared many wonderful trips together with our dear friends Lou and Lila Rosado, whom we met at our home away from home, Ocean View Resort in New Jersey. Now this will be my last trip.
Ken leaves behind his devoted Daughter, Kim Florin (Rob), and his cherished grandchildren: Kara Rydlewski (Derrick), Nicholas Florin, James Florin, Amanda Seckerson Joseph Seckerson and several Nieces and Nephews.
Here is another Poem written and left by my father:
“I Had a Good Life”
Two kids, five grandkids, and one great wife who I lost too soon.
I always thought I would go first. Life is not the same without her. All I can do is hope for the best and not to burden anyone.
Love You All.
Kenny – Dad – Grandpa – Uncle and friend
P.S. If you don’t know the story behind “the ringing”-during the Navy, my dad lost part of his hearing and had a ringing in his ear ever since. But now, at last, it has stopped.
Dad,
You were never a burden, I’m glad that I was able to be there for you. I Love you, till I see you again.
Your daughter,
In lieu of flowers, you can make a donation in his name to one of these places that meant a lot to my dad: The American Legion Post 347 in Flint Park, Larchmont NY or St. Jude's Childrens Hospital
